Introduction

HxGN Smart Sites consolidates diverse organizational data into a cohesive geospatial application, providing intuitive tools for efficient building and infrastructure management, providing operational insight. It allows you to feed all the data coming from various data formats, databases, OGC services or live data feeds such as sensor or security cameras and turn it into actionable intelligence via its web interface, and protected by configurable authentication and authorization.

Using HxGN Smart Sites, you can create Workspaces from the collection of data that is of interest to you, make annotations, interact with and filter the data to complete tasks with a few clicks instead of investigating issues in the physical world. Share this information within an organization to collaborate with your colleagues.

HxGN Smart Sites can be deployed in the cloud or on-premises. Although offered as an off-the-shelf product, it can also be customized if required.

HxGN Smart Sites Components​

HxGN Smart Sites has 2 key components; the Client and Admin, each serving distinct yet complementary roles. These correspond to User types.

HxGN Smart Sites Admin​

  • Configuration and Management: The admin component is designed for administrators who need to configure and manage the platform's settings and Datasources. This includes setting up Datasources, configuring widgets, selecting searchable properties.
  • Security and Access Control: The admin interface includes features for managing user roles and permissions, ensuring that data access is secure and appropriately restricted.

HxGN Smart Sites Client​

  • User Interaction: The Client component is the primary interface through which end-users interact with the platform. It is designed to be user-friendly and accessible, allowing users to view, analyze, and manipulate data.
  • Features and Tools: End users can access various tools and features, such as map navigation, data visualization, querying, and analysis functionalities. This component includes interactive widgets like the search, routing, and measurement features.

HxGN Smart Sites Users​

While anyone in an organisation can be a user of HxGN Smart Sites, due to the different interaction required for them the user types are divided into administrators and end users.

Admin users​

Admin users are users who are familiar with the systems in an organization (including user management systems), geospatial data available, and have information on how this data can be used by which type of end users.

As the administration step is the first step that needs to be completed, each organisation requires at least one admin user. This type of user can access both the Admin and end user Applications. More information can be found in the Admin Guide.

End users​

End users can be any user in an organisation, ranging from project planners, security personnel, cleaning crews to maintenance workers or cad engineers. Any user who can book efficiencies from interacting with a digital twin of their organisation can use the Hexagon Smart Sites Client to visualize the data made available to them by the admin and interact with it. HxGN Smart Sites - Discovery​

This product 'add-on option' allows an organization to make a limited environment (pre-set Workspace with basic data and features) available to an unlimited number of users within a site. Think about a visitor app for patients from a hospital for example.

This is an add-on, meaning that standard HxGN Smart Sites users are also needed in this scenario.
